This table is intended as a "designer's guide" in the selection of appropriate copper cross-sectional area. Original research was conducted on a range of braid sizes which were
tested in a NATA laboratory in accordance with AS 3100-1990. The calculated "current rating" is based on a temperature rise of 45°C on lengths of 1m and is achieved by passing alternating current at 50Hz through the braids and adjusting to p
roduce a stable temperature rise as above.
